MUMBAI: This December, actress Konkona Sen Sharma will be seen in the National Geographic Channel’s latest local property – My Brilliant Brain.

Sen will be part of the special Indian film, which will be aired along with the international line-up.

As had been reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com My Brilliant Brain is a series that aims to make viewers re-think the abilities of the human brain as it looks at a group of remarkable people and poses questions about the origins of genius: are these extraordinary abilities genetic, developed or acquired by accident?

The series reveals aspects of the human brain and will showcase some of the world’s most phenomenal geniuses. These are people living amongst us who have extraordinary mental abilities – were they born with it, developed them accidentally or through learning?

Premiering in December, this two-week escapade will showcase the geniuses themselves and the scientists who venture headfirst into the winding depths of the brain to answer the question – how does one become a genius?

Konkona to host NatGeo show

Bollywood actress Konkona Sen Sharma will be hosting an episode of the series, My Brilliant Brain, on the National Geographic channel, which will feature four Indian masterminds. Over to Konkona:

What drew you to My Brilliant Brain?
I've followed National Geographic quite closely. I used to read the magazine. I like the channel because it provides a vast range of information. So when they approached me to host an episode of My Brilliant Brain, I agreed. "Most mainstream television channels and shows are movie-oriented. There are very few channels that go beyond that and provide holistic information. I prefer those kinds of channels"
How was the experience?
Humbling. It's fascinating to see how these little but bright minds work. The people on my show are called India's Geniuses.. they're super-talented. Ten-year-old Siddharth Nagarajan from Hyderabad was one-and-a-half when he gave a 12-minute solo performance on the dhol.

Tataghat Tulsi from Bangalore is 20 years old. He graduated when he was only 10 and became the youngest in the world to complete his Masters in Science at 12. He's on his way to becoming Asia's youngest doctor of philosophy. When you look at their achievements, your own work seems so useless.

Did you gain anything from the show?
Yes.. the satisfaction of being with the real intelligentsia. Each of these individuals has different backgrounds and education. They're not the regulars you meet in a bus or at work.

You have also hosted shows on Discovery Travel and Living. Are you game for infotainment channels?
Of course. Most mainstream television channels and shows are movie-oriented. There are very few channels that go beyond that and provide holistic information. I prefer those kinds of channels.

(My Brilliant Brain premieres on December 10 on the National Geographic channel at 10 pm)
